July 4th: New York

假期印象:
两个小客人,
女汉子上下爬梯饱吃卖萌,勤劳哥前后奔跑浇花神侃,
郊游看长岛酒庄绿肥红瘦,门口见金阳染草狗欢人悠。

Li Cao wrote the poem above after our visiting during July 4th. I do not think that I need to translate the poem to English, because the photos tell you everything. Maybe I will just need to translate the title to English "Two little guests" in case you don't know that Lex and I are the main characters in this poem. The video below demonstrated one activity in the poem but not in those photos.

Mountain Climbing

After working in New York for several years, Li Cao and her husband Xijie decided to buy a house in Flushing; a neighborhood in the north-central part of the New York City borough of Queens. Flushing is very popular to Chinese immigrants. The Chinese population of Flushing surpassed Manhattan's Chinatown years ago. Non-Chinese would think that they are foreigners when they walk along the streets in Flushing since two-thirds of the residents in this bustling region are foreign born, the vast majority of them coming from Asia.

Their house has luxurious back yard, where Xijie can set up a preparation table and grill, and Li Cao can plant vegetables and flowers. Their deck is a nice place to sit, chat and relax. Their sofa inside the house is also very comfy. There is a small park near her house too. We all liked their house.

The plan for next day was to visit vineyards on long island. The first vineyard we went was the old field vineyards. We thought it would be the first one and it actually turned out to be the only one we visited. Mama wanted to find a beach for me and Lex. It turned out not easy to find an access to beach area without planning in advance. But it is okay; We had fun in the old field vineyards.

Adults tasted several different kinds of vine.

Lex ate yogurt.

I ate cookies.

Mama let Lex to use her fancy camera. He took lots of pictures and several of them turned out to be nice. He got,

one Mama,

 one Baba,

one jewelry lady,

 and one dog house.

He also made sure that he left his fingerprints on the lenses.

There was also a small play area in this vineyard.

On the third day in Flushing, Mama's other friends, Qun and Regan came to Li Cao's house to see us. Lex played a game which he made up at the spot using quarters. One of the game rule is the he has to win every time. Then, he made a compromise, which is if other people has to win the game, he needs to win at the same time. The seemed all happy with his rule.
